Two-dose series for adults 50+. Shingrix is over 90% effective at preventing shingles and post-herpetic neuralgia. Second dose given 2–6 months after the first. Covered for adults 65+ under BC PharmaCare.

Is the flu shot free in BC?

Is Shingrix covered by BC PharmaCare?
Shingrix is covered for BC residents aged 65 and older under BC PharmaCare. Adults aged 50–64 can receive Shingrix but will pay out of pocket unless they have private insurance that covers it. The two-dose series must be completed — we track your schedule and remind you when your second dose is due.
Can my pharmacist administer the COVID-19 booster?

How far in advance should I plan for travel vaccines?
Ideally, book a travel health consultation at least 6–8 weeks before your departure date. Some vaccines require multiple doses spread over weeks (Hepatitis B series, some typhoid options), and your immune system needs time to build protection after vaccination. For last-minute travel, we can still help — some vaccines provide protection within days. Bring your itinerary and destination details.
